内容記述 | The present study examined the relation between self-regulation and evaluation of demanding behavior in preschool children, focusing on the shift in demanding behavior after their request is rejected by another child. In Study 1, 5-year-old children (N = 38) and 6-year-old children (N = 46) were asked to decide whether to change or keep their previous request in computer game tasks after the request was rejected by another child playing as an opponent. In Study 2, 6-year-old children (N = 123) participated in the same computer game tasks as in Study 1. Nursery school teachers rated the children on self-inhibition and self-assertion scales on a self-regulation questionnaire. For the data analysis, the children were divided into four types of self-regulation behavior according to their scores on self-assertion and self-inhibition. The main results were as follows: (1) 6-year-old children tended to decide on their demanding behavior by relying on the situation more than 5-year-old children did. (2) Children who scored high on self-inhibition and low on self-assertion decided what to do with their request by relying on both the intensity of the rejection and the size of the reward.( 3) Children who scored low on self-inhibition and high on self-assertion decided what to do with their request by relying only on the size of the reward.( 4) Children who scored high on both self-assertion and self-inhibition decided their demand behavior without relying on the situation. | |||||||||||
