| 内容記述 | 本稿は10歳前後の頃の子どもが直面する課題について, 社会学的に考察しようとするものである。1節では, 臨床心理や小学校教育の現場における10歳前後の子どもについての声と筆者の問題意識とをかさね、2節で彼らに対する教育学的アプローチ, 心理学的アプローチ, 文化人類学的アプローチからの研究を紹介し, それらをまとめることで, 彼らが直面している課題は「抽象性」についてのものであることを示している。またその上で, 10歳前後の子どもに社会学的に接近する場合には, シンボリック相互作用論的アプローチが最も有効であることを明らかにしている。3節では現代の代表的なシンボリック相互作用論者であるN・K・デンジンの著した Childhood Sociaaizationをみることで, デンジンの子どもの社会化論を検討している。デンジンの考察から, 10歳前後の子どもの直面する「抽象性」にかんする課題とは, 遊びの場面でいうと「ゲームで遊ぶ」段階かち「ゲームを遊ぶ」段階への移行と考えられることから, それを確かめるために, つづく4節では「子どもの遊びにかんするアンケート調査」の分析をおこなっている。分析結果の考察と筆者が以前におこなった議論をかさねることで, 本稿では次のような結論を得るにいたっている。10歳前後の頃にあたる4年生は子どもにとって「抽象性」の世界の入り口にたつ時であり, そこで抽象的思考の必要度の高い遊びをすることをとおして「ゲームで遊ぶ」段階から「ゲームを遊ぶ」段階に移行しはじめ,「ゲームを遊ぶ」段階である5・6年生にもなると身体的・精神的成熟にともなう新しい「自己」概念が獲得される。 | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | This paper investigates the socialization process of children around age ten. The first section discusses why this topic is significant, and how clinical psychologists and teachers who have close contacts with children view this process. The second section reviews related literature in the field of education, psychology, and anthropology. The literature review shows that various socialization processes around this age are strongly affected by the cognitive development of capabilities for abstraction. It also indicates that the symbolic interaction approach is most effective for an analysis of a socialization process of children of this age group. The third section examines how N.K.Denzin, who is one of the leading symbolic interaction theorists, conceptualizes the socialization process for children. Based on his analysis, I hypothesize that the development of cognitive capability for abstraction which occurs around age ten would be reflected in a change in the types of play children engage in around that age. Around that age, children's play changes from one type to the other-from the playing-at-game stage to the playing-a-game stage. In the last section, this hypothesis is tested with the survey data (the Child's Play Survey). From the results of the data analysis, supplemented with the argument I formally made in another paper, the following conclusion is reached. The fourth grade (around age ten) is the time when the cognitive capability for abstraction develops rapidly. Around that time, with such development of cognitive capabilities, the nature of children's play changes from one stage to the other (from the playing-at-game stage to the playing-a-game stage). By the time children reach the fifth/sixth grade, such transformation is completed, and they attain the new concept of self which is suitable for their newly achieved physical and psychological maturity. | |||||||||||
